Digital signal processing and VLSI systems

Digital signal processing algorithms for real-time intelligent applications have been investigated. Examples include FFT-based face/fingerprint recognition algorithms for information security as well as image processing algorithms based on multi-dimensional non-linear digital systems. We are also investigating theoretical approaches to designing digital signal processing systems using VLSI technology. Advanced high-level design methodology has been employed to develop special-purpose VLSI processors for real-time signal processing applications. The VLSI chips in this project have been fabricated through the chip fabrication program supported by VLSI Design and Education Center (VDEC) at the University of Tokyo.
